What is World AIDS Day?
World
AIDS Day is an international day of acknowledgement and reflection
to be actively involved in spreading the word, or sharing fight
the spread against the disease.
For more than two decades, AIDS is the most significant crises
of | our generation. At present date, HIV/AIDS affects humans
life across the globe:
-- Almost
38 million people are living with AIDS
-- Almost
6,000 children are orphaned because of the disease
-- Over 15 million youngsters under the age of 15 have lost
either one or both parents to AIDS.
-- More than 75 percent of the childless orphans resides in
sub-Saharan Africa.
-- Across
the universe, HIV/AIDS is one of the most debilitating health
challenges that impacts the socio- economics of the world.
-- AIDS
is a global urgent pandemic that takes more than 8,000 lives
daily.

This year
(2005) more than million people were diagnosed as HIV+.
-- Although
the number of mortality rate of AIDS in the United Kingdom and
United States is slight, more cases of HIV are being reported.
-- The
acronym for AIDS is Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome
-- HIV
is contracted or transmitted via the exchange of body fluids;
including: blood, vaginal secretions, semen, and breast milk.
-- HIV is the acronym for Human Immunodeficiency Virus which
is deemed the leading cause of AIDS x If someone is
HIV-positive, it means they have been infected with the virus.
-- Individual
infected with HIV are not afflicted with AIDS until the virus
has devastated their immune system. Once the immune system breaks
down, a person is susceptible to a wide spectrum of infections.
(Certain Infections may lead to death).
-- HIV/AIDS
are a universal concern because it impact the world.
